To teach or not to teach?

Being a teacher, I have 2 weeks off for the Christmas holidays,  I can’t say that it hurts.  Of course, this isn’t the main reason I became a teacher ten years ago.  I could give you some schpell about how I wanted to change the world, blah, blah, but honestly, I just really didn’t want to keep working at Starbucks.  It was killing me.  As a manager, I as on-call 24/7.  It was ridiculous.  And so, I enjoyed training people and thought, hey, why not try teaching?  I could always go back to slinging coffee if it didn’t work out.  Like I said, ten years later…..

Deep December

So, with Christmas behind us, now what?  I hate when the Christmas music stops playing on the local radio and the movement towards the New Year moves with a rapid pace.  Not that I don’t like the New Year, it’s just that it feels anticlimatic somehow, someway.  I still miss snow, but I realize that snow is a lot more fun for kids than it is for adults and so on another I am grateful not to have to fight that battle.

It is cold tonight though.  Cold enough to cover the plants and turn on the heating pad.  Cold enough that all my dogs, well at least the little ones, are all snuggled up next to me.  It’s quiet.  Quiet, peaceful.  A nice way to end December 26, 2010.
